According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in November this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports increased by 51.6 percent year on year, totaling $1.64 billion. In the given month, iron and steel ranked in fifth place among the most imported products of the country in terms of value. In the January-November period of this year, the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $15.2 billion, increasing by 31.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In November, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 14th among the products with the highest import value, amounted to $270.7 million in value, rising by 15.4 percent year on year. In the January-November period of this year, the value of Turkey's imports of articles of iron or steel was down 2.2 percent to $2.66 billion compared to the same period of 2016.
