In the first eight months of this year, Turkey's steel exports increased by 11.1 percent year on year to 12.4 million mt, while the value of these exports moved up by 23.5 percent year on year to $8.7 billion, according to the data released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In the given period, Turkey's long steel exports fell by 9.2 percent to 6.3 million mt, while flat steel exports increased by 67 percent to 2.9 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first eight months, the country’s semi-finished steel exports grew by 280.5 percent to 625,000 mt, year on year.
In August this year, Turkey's steel exports decreased by 17 percent to 1.3 million mt, with a value of $1.02 billion, up 1.1 percent, both year on year.
The previous rising year-on-year trend of Turkey’s flat steel exports switched to a downward trend in August. In the given month, Turkey's flat steel exports fell by 7.6 percent year on year to 298,000 mt, while the long steel product exports of the country decreased by 30.4 percent year on year to 623,000 mt because Turkish rebar producers focused on their local market to satisfy domestic demand.
In the given month, the country’s semi-finished steel exports increased by 4.1 percent to 44,000 mt, year on year.
