Turkey’s steel export volume down 4.4 percent in January-April

In the January-April period of this year, Turkey's steel exports decreased by 4.4 percent year on year to 5.62 million mt, while the value of these exports decreased by 21.9 percent year on year to $3.36 billion, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). 
 
In the given period, Turkey's semi-finished exports fell by 49 percent to 58,000 mt, with a value of $36.8 million, down 50 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the first four months of this year, the finished steel exports of the country declined by three percent to 4.37 million mt, with the value of these exports falling by 29 percent to $1.68 billion, both year on year. In the mentioned period, the flat steel exports of Turkey increased by 23.7 percent, while its long steel exports decreased by 8.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
 
In April this year, Turkey's steel exports narrowed by 19 percent to 1.27 million mt, with a value of $838.7 million, down 23.9 percent, both year on year. In the given month, the semi-finished exports of the country decreased by 21.8 percent to 947,000 mt, with their value declining by 34 percent to $396 million, both year on year.
