In November last year, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 315,934 mt, falling by 18.3 percent month on month and up from 94,766 mt in November 2016, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's slab imports in the given month was $147.5 million, more than quadruple compared to November 2016 and down 14.44 percent month on month.
In the January-November period of 2017, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 2.19 million mt, up 48.9 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 103 percent to $930.4 million, both year on year.
In the January-November period last year, Turkey imported 924,755 metric tons of slab from Russia. Russia was Turkey's largest slab import source in the period in question, followed by Brazil, which supplied 748,446 mt.
