Turkey’s slab imports up 11.5 percent in January-July

In July this year, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 190,487 mt, increasing by 13.9 percent year on year and up 133.5 percent compared to June, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's slab imports in the given month was $80.8 million, up 38.4 percent compared to July 2016 and rising by 127.3 percent month on month.

In the first seven months of the current year, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 1.19 million mt, up 11.5 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 56.8 percent to $484.7 million, both year on year.
 
In the January-July period this year, Turkey imported 574,658 metric tons of slab from Russia. Russia was Turkey's largest slab import source in the period in question, followed by Brazil, which supplied 335,218 mt.
