Turkey’s scrap imports down 18.7 percent in January-October

In October this year, Turkey's scrap import volume decreased by 26.6 percent year on year to 1.15 million metric tons, up 13.86 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $266.16 million, down 55.5 percent year on year and rising by 10.3 percent compared to September.

In the first ten months of this year, Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 13.2 million mt, falling 18.7 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 40.5 percent to $3.66 billion, both compared to the same period of 2014.
 
In the January-October period this year, Turkey imported 2,957,631 mt of scrap from the US, down 9.09 percent year on year, with the US ranking as Turkey's leading scrap import source, ahead of Russia which supplied 2,068,177 mt in the given period, down 16.09 percent year on year.
