In November last year, Turkey's scrap import volume decreased by 15 percent year on year to 1.3 million metric tons, up 13 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $283.3 million, down 50 percent year on year and rising by 6.5 percent compared to October.
In the first 11 months of last year, Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 14.5 million mt, falling 18.4 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 41.2 percent to $3.95 billion, both compared to the same period of 2014.
In the January-November period last year, Turkey imported 3,389,802 mt of scrap from the US, down 9.17 percent year on year, with the US ranking as Turkey's leading scrap import source, ahead of Russia which supplied 2,258,658 mt in the given period, down 14.83 percent year on year.
