According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey's steel scrap imports rose 3.1 percent compared to August and were down 7.5 percent compared to the same month of 2011, amounting to 1.8 million metric tons.
Meanwhile, in the third quarter of 2012 Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 5.6 million mt, decreasing by eight percent compared to the previous quarter this year and down 2.5 percent year on year. In the first nine months of the year, the country's scrap imports totaled 16.86 million mt, increasing 7.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
