Turkey’s rebar exports down 7.9 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 441,281 metric tons, down 1.72 percent compared to April and falling by 23.3 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $191.1 million, decreasing by 19.1 percent compared to May 2016 and down 2.84 percent month on month.

 

In the first five months of the current year, Turkey's rebar export volume amounted to 2.7 million mt, falling by 7.9 percent, while the value of these exports increased by 11.11 percent to $1.14 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey's largest rebar export destination was the US which received 530,437 metric tons, down 11.68 percent year on year. The US was followed by Yemen with 300,248 metric tons and Israel with 265,467 metric tons.
