Turkey’s real estate sector flourishes in H1

The data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) on September 7, based on the construction permits issued by local authorities in Turkey, show that in the first half of 2010, the new floor area, the number of new buildings and the value of new buildings in the country increased by 23.6 percent, 8.6 percent and 30.8 percent respectively, while the number of new dwelling units rose by 29.1 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, in the given period, based on construction permits issued, the number of new residential buildings surged by 9.8 percent year on year to 44,572. Also in the January-June period of 2010, the floor area of new residential buildings increased by 26.1 percent year on year, reaching 47,467,006 m2.
