Turkey’s pig iron imports up 16.1 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 108,301 mt, up 16.1 percent year on year and decreasing by 41.8 percent compared to December, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 0.8 percent year on year to $35.05 million, down by 41.5 percent compared to the previous month.

In January, Turkey imported 75,750 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 31.01 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the month in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 25,852 mt, down 5.34 percent year on year.
