In February this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 79,028 mt, falling by 87.7 percent month on month, up 17 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 14.6 percent month on month to $25.5 million, up 30 percent compared to the previous month and rising by 79.4 percent compared to February 2016.
In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports decreased by 18.5 percent to 143,383 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $45.12 million, up 20.8 percent, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 69,751 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 24.95 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 55,136 mt, down 53.35 percent year on year.
