In September this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 138,961 mt, up 50.3 percent compared to August and up 69.5 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month increased by 53.8 percent month on month and 142.6 percent year on year to $51.83 million.
In the first nine months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports decreased by 16.8 percent to 704,234 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $246.77 million, up 20.7 percent, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 455,741 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 58.28 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 150,800 mt, down 70.6 percent year on year.
