Turkey’s pig iron imports down 12.3 percent in January-April

In April this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 84,036 mt, down 45.4 percent year on year and decreasing by 40.2 percent compared to March, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 48.4 percent year on year to $28.57 million, down by 31.4 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the January-April period of this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 420,272 metric tons, down 12.3 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $134.27 million, decreasing by 23.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

In the January-April period of this year, Turkey imported 199,705 694 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, down 41.85 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 111,451 mt, up 103.26 percent year on year.
