Turkey’s passenger car sales down 4.39 percent in January

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive distributor Association (ODD), in January 2010, the domestic passenger car market decreased by 4.39 percent compared to January 2009 and was down 77.97 percent month on month, with sales declining to 12,594 units. In January, sales of local production passenger car totaled 3,789 units, while sales of imported passenger cars totaled 8,805 units.

In the month in question, sales of light commercial vehicles declined by 82.63 percent compared to the previous month but rose by 16.60 percent year on year, reaching 7,501 units. In January, sales of local production light commercial vehicles totaled 4,216 units, while sales of imported light commercial vehicles totaled 3,285 units.
