Turkey’s Kardemir to build new blast furnace

Turkish steelmaker Kardemir has announced that it has decided to build a new blast furnace with a capacity of 1 million mt per year, within the scope of its plans to reach a steel production capacity of 3.5 million mt.

With the construction of its sixth blast furnace, Kardemir aims to improve its performance and efficiency.

Meanwhile, the company has halted operations at its blast furnace No. 4 due to modernization works and announced that it will resume production operations at the blast furnace at the end of September this year.
