In September this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 814,307 mt, down 5.4 percent month on month and falling by 4.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 15.6 percent to $68.14 million compared to the previous month and was up 16.5 percent year on year.
In the first nine months of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 8.22 million mt, up 6.56 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 52.4 percent to $765.9 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 3,429,870 mt, down 11.74 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1,488,257 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Ukraine in the given period amounted to 1,085,038 mt.
