In February this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 904,724 metric tons, increasing by 78.64 percent compared to January and up 35 percent year on year, while the value of these imports amounted to $133.78 million, up 82.40 percent month on month and rising by 51.55 percent year on year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Meanwhile, in the first two months of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports increased by 46.94 percent to 1.42 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $207.13 million, up 65.28 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first two months of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil increased by 24.11 percent year on year to 508,032 metric tons. Brazil was followed by Finland, supplying 260,229 metric tons, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Ukraine in the given period increased by 15.84 percent year on year to 203,465 metric tons.
