In August this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 1.15 million mt, increasing by 15.2 percent compared to July and up 43.7 percent as compared to the same month of 2020, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports increased by 220.5 percent to $284.73 million year on year, while up 31.7 percent as compared to July.
Meanwhile, in the January-August period of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 7.63 million metric tons, up 16.4 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $1.43 billion, increasing by 121.8 percent compared to the same period of 2020.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 3.64 million mt, up 2.47 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1.23 million mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 985,627 mt.
