In October this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 1.23 million mt, increasing by 110.2 percent compared to September and up 68.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports increased by 147.7 percent month on month to $115.8 million and up 56 compared to October 2017.
In the January-October period, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 8.97 million mt, up 0.2 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by two percent to $823.3 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 3,867,806 mt, up 7.4 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1,564,897 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 992,553 mt.
