In October this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 773,092 mt, down 9.6 percent month on month and falling by 21.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 11.1 percent to $51.9 million compared to the previous month and was down 25.3 percent year on year.
In the first ten months of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports remained almost unchanged at 8.5 million mt, while revenues from these imports decreased by 20.6 percent to $554.4 million, both year on year.
In the January-October period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 4.22 million mt, up 5.21 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Russia which supplied 1.59 million mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Sweden in the given period amounted to 1.24 million mt.
