In September this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 583,484 mt, falling by 46 percent compared to August and down 28.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 55 percent month on month to $46.74 million and was down 31.4 compared to September 2017.
In the January-September period, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 7.74 million mt, down 5.9 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 7.62 percent to $707.5 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 3,359,681 mt, down 2.05 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1,339,901 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 880,564 mt.
