In February this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 388,443 mt, falling by 59.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 62.3 percent to $32.5 million compared to February 2017.
In the January-February period, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 1.31 million mt, down 34.4 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 33.6 percent to $114.55 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 591,026 mt, down 30.25 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 235,840 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 202,945 mt.
