According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's total hot rolled coil exports amounted to 31,483 metric tons, increasing by 80.6 percent compared to the previous month and down 56 percent compared to August 2011. Turkey's hot rolled coil exports had been falling on month-on-month basis in the three months from April to July this year.
Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports in August totaled $20.6 million, rising by 68.2 percent compared to July this year and down 61.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Turkey's hot rolled coil exports in the first eight months of the current year totaled 398,628 mt, decreasing by 67.7 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
HR coil exports to Italy, which was the largest hot rolled flat steel export destination of Turkey in 2011 accounting for 44 percent of total Turkish HR flat steel exports, totaled 16,131 mt in August this year, decreasing by 46.3 percent compared to the same month of 2011. Turkish HR coil exports to the European Union in August amounted to 27,731 mt, increasing on month-on-month basis, following a three months of downward movement.
