In the January-August period of this year, finished steel output in Turkey increased by 3.1 percent year on year to 25.6 million mt, according to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
As stated in the TCUD report, in the first eight months of this year Turkey's long product output totaled 17.2 million mt, declining by 3.5 percent, and its flat product output grew by 19.9 percent to 8.4 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
Finished steel consumption in Turkey in the first eight months of this year fell by 1.7 percent year on year to 23 million mt. In the given period, 51.3 percent of total finished steel consumption was for long products, while 48.7 percent was accounted for by flat products.
In the January-August period of this year, Turkish consumption of long products fell by 2.2 percent to 11.8 million mt, while consumption of flat steel products decreased 1.2 percent to 11.2 million mt, both year on year.
