Turkey's finished steel consumption down 1.2 percent in January-October

In the first 10 months of this year, Turkey's finished steel output increased by 0.5 percent year on year to 29.88 million metric tons, according to a report released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In the given period, Turkey's long products output totaled 21.67 million metric tons, down 0.3 percent, and its flat products output increased by 2.6 percent to 8.21 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, 72.5 percent of the total finished steel output consisted of long products and 27.5 percent was accounted for by flat products. 

As stated in the report, in the first 10 months of the current year Turkey's finished steel consumption decreased by 1.2 percent year on year 25.32 million metric tons. In the given period, consumption of long products in the country increased by 0.2 percent to 13.64 million metric tons, while flat products consumption decreased by 2.9 percent to 11.68 million metric tons. In the given period, 53.9 percent of total finished steel consumption was for long products and 46.1 percent was accounted for by flat products.
