Turkey’s ferroalloy imports rise in January

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in January this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 50.4 percent compared to the previous month to 38,955 mt, following a 37.6 percent month-on-month decrease in December 2012, and were up 8.7 percent compared to January 2012. The value of these imports amounted to $53.6 million, double compared to the previous month and up 9.3 percent year on year.

Turkey's ferroalloy imports from Ukraine in January amounted to 15,424 metric tons, up 15.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while imports from India in January amounted to 5,496 mt, down 20.4 percent compared to January of the previous year. Russian ferroalloy exports to Turkey in January amounted to 5,251, almost quintuple year on year.
