According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 38.7 percent compared to the previous month and were down eight percent compared to June 2011, totaling 36,927 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $53.8 million, increasing by 30.3 percent as compared to May and down 21.4 percent year on year.
In the first half of 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 209,264 metric tons, decreasing three percent compared to January-June 2011. Imports from Ukraine in the period in question amounted to 78,906 metric tons, rising by 0.5 percent, while imports from India in the first half of the current year amounted to 31,572 mt, down 13.3 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011. Meanwhile, China exported 25,697 mt of ferroalloys to Turkey in the first six months, up 42.9 percent year on year.
