Turkey’s ferroalloy imports down 1.16 percent in 2012

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in 2012 Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 427,514 metric tons, decreasing by 1.16 percent compared to 2011. The value of these imports amounted to $606.6 million, down 13.1 percent year on year.

In December 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports fell 37.6 percent compared to the previous month to 25,894 mt, following a 3.5 percent month-on-month decrease in November, and were down 17 percent compared to December 2011.

Turkey's ferroalloy imports from Ukraine last year amounted to 165,766 metric tons, up 22.7 percent compared to the previous year, while imports from India in 2012 amounted to 72,906 mt, up almost 23 percent compared to the previous year. Russian ferroalloy exports to Turkey last year amounted to 60,246, rising 43.2 percent year on year. Meanwhile, China exported 30,561 mt of ferroalloys to Turkey in 2012, declining 32.8 percent from the 2011 level.
