Turkey’s crude steel output increases by 13.6 percent in January-August

According to a statement released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkish crude steel output in August this year decreased by 4.9 percent month on month due to the Feast of Sacrifice holiday, and was up by 13.3 percent year on year to 3.2 million mt. 

In the given month, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces rose by 19.3 percent, while production by integrated plants increased by 1.4 percent, both year on year.

In the January-August period of this year, Turkish crude steel output rose by 13.6 percent to 24.7 million mt, year on year. In the given period, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces rose by 18.8 percent to 17 million mt, while production by integrated plants increased by 3.5 percent to 7.7 million mt, both year on year.

In the January-August period of this year, Turkey's billet output increased by 9.2 percent to 16.9 million metric tons, while its slab output rose by 24.2 percent to 7.9 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis.
