In February this year Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 377,133 mt, up 59.38 percent year on year and decreasing by 31.97 percent on month-on-month basis, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports was $56.21 million, up 35.39 percent year on year and decreasing by 33.40 percent month on month.
In the first two months of this year, Turkey's coking coal imports increased by 34.79 percent to 931,532 metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $140.60 million, up 24.04 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In February this year, the US was the sole source of coking coal imports for Turkey, supplying 377,133 metric tons, up 460.74 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first two months of the current year, Turkey's coking coal imports from the US increased by 89.59 percent year on year to 677,641 mt. The US was followed by Canada with 164,997 mt of coking coal exports to Turkey in the given period.
