Turkey’s billet imports up 90.4 percent in January-September

In September this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 25.3 percent month on month to 199,708 mt, down by 9.5 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $141.17 million, increasing by 21.4 percent month on month and up by 51.7 percent year on year.

 

In the January-September period of this year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 2.46 million mt, increasing by 90.4 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 177.9 percent to $1.52 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 1.4 million mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 70.4 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 396,523 mt in the given period.
