Turkey’s billet imports up 65 percent in January-February

In February this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 136 percent year on year to 438,717 metric tons, up 42.8 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $190.4 million, up 85 percent year on year and rising by 36.7 percent compared to the previous month.


 
In the January-February period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 64.7 percent year on year to 745,792 metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $329.6 million, up 32.75 percent year on year.
 
In February, Turkey imported 216,920 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 113.3 percent higher year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 135,123 mt in the given period, up 101.66 percent year on year.
