Turkey’s billet imports up 58.6 percent in January-April

In April this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 7.33 percent year on year to 226,465 metric tons, down 45.9 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $90.6 million, down 20 percent year on year and falling by 49.1 percent compared to the previous month.


 
In the January-April period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 58.6 percent year on year to 1.4 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $598.1 million, up 25 percent year on year.
 
In the January-April period, Turkey imported 609,824 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 10.12 percent higher year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 542,623 mt in the given period, up 112.18 percent year on year.
