Turkey’s billet imports up 53.7 percent in January-August

In August this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 237.2 percent year on year to 556,552 metric tons, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $207.8 million, up 129 percent year on year.


 
In the January-August period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 53.7 percent year on year to 3.04 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $1.24 billion, up 16 percent year on year.
 
In the January- August period, Turkey imported 1,128,120 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 2.57 percent higher year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 1,052,728 mt in the given period, up 68.72 percent year on year.
