Turkey’s billet imports up 3.4 percent in January-September

In September this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 37 percent year on year to 342,943 mt, up 4.1 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $118.22 million, down 37.5 percent year on year and rising by five percent compared to the previous month.

In the January-September period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 3.4 percent year on year to 3.71 million mt, while the value of these imports totaled $1.18 billion, down 17.3 percent year on year.
 
In the first nine months of this year, Turkey imported 1,283,881 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 8.36 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 1,106,159 mt in the given period.
