Turkey’s billet imports up 22.2 percent in January-July

In July this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 9.25 percent year on year to 335,281 mt, down 35.8 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $121.7 million, down 1.12 percent year on year and falling by 36.2 percent compared to the previous month.


 
In the January-July period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 22.2 percent year on year to 3.04 million mt, while the value of these imports totaled $957.8 million, down 7.1 percent year on year.
 
In the first seven months of this year, Turkey imported 1,001,858 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 5.71 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 913,175 mt in the given period.
