Turkey’s billet imports rise 67.7 percent in 2015

In December last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 7.55 percent year on year to 381,663 metric tons, down 26 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $114.6 million, down 43.2 percent year on year and falling by 29.6 percent month on month.

In 2015, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 67.7 percent year on year to 4.9 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $1.85 billion, up 16.1 percent year on year.
 
Last year, Turkey imported 1,535,792 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, 66.87 percent higher year on year, with Russia ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of China which supplied 1,468,967 mt in the given period, rising significantly compared to 143,146 mt in the same period of 2014.
