Turkey’s billet imports down 6.6 percent in Jan-Apr

In April this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 30.7 percent month on month to 151,945 mt, up by 73.1 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $71.86 million, up 23.7 percent month on month and up 37.1 percent year on year.

In the first four months of this year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 474,802 mt, falling by 6.6 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 18.4 percent to $231.79 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 305,493 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 60.87 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 87,221 mt in the given period.
