Turkey’s billet imports down 54.6 percent in January-November

In November last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 96 percent month on month to 35,855 mt, down by 73.2 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $21.95 million, up 55.9 percent month on month and down 70 percent year on year.

In the January-November period of last year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 920,934 mt, falling by 54.6 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 40.7 percent to $531.5 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 436,207 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 34.7 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 219,242 mt in the given period.
