Turkey’s billet imports down 53.3 percent in January-October

In October this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 77.3 percent month on month to 18,253 mt, down by 86.7 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $14.08 million, down 68.8 percent month on month and down 80.3 percent year on year.

In the January-October period of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 885,076 mt, falling by 53.3 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 38.2 percent to $509.6 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 413,960 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 29.46 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 213,904 mt in the given period.
