Turkey’s billet imports down 53.1 percent in January-July

In July this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 15.7 percent year on year to 232,501 mt, up 50.4 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $121.97 million, up 0.2 percent year on year and increasing by 51.2 percent compared to the previous month.

 

In the first seven months of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 1.43 million mt, falling by 53.1 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 37.5 percent to $598.5 million, both year on year.
 
In the given period, Turkey imported 572,243 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, down 37.3 percent year on year, with Ukraine ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Russia which supplied 454,620 mt in the given period.
