Turkey’s billet imports down 5.2 percent in January-November

In November last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 54.3 percent year on year to 235,436 mt, down 33.7 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $82.8 million, down 49 percent year on year and falling by 31.8 percent compared to the previous month.


 
In the January-November period of 2016, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 5.2 percent year on year to 4.3 million mt, while the value of these imports totaled $1.4 billion, down 20 percent year on year.
 
In the first 11 months of last year, Turkey imported 1,645,905 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 15.45 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 1,290,392 mt in the given period.
