Turkey’s billet imports down 50.7 percent in January-September

In September this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 59.7 percent month on month to 80,376 mt, down by 49.9 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $45.14 million, up 55.1 percent month on month and down 40.7 percent year on year.

In the January-September period of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 866,826 mt, falling by 50.7 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 34.2 percent to $495.5 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 407,282 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 25.2 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 212,326 mt in the given period.
