Turkey’s billet imports down 48.9 percent in Jan-Oct

In October this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by six percent month on month to 70,118 mt, down by 20.8 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $33.56 million, up 1.4 percent month on month and down 32 percent year on year.

In the first 10 months of this year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 1.27 million mt, falling by 48.9 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 54.5 percent to $622.8 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 784,375 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 42.16 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 303,399 mt in the given period.
