In July this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 4.1 percent month on month to 61,565 mt, down by 78.2 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $38.5 million, up 6.2 percent month on month and down 68.4 percent year on year.
In the January-July period of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 736,114 mt, falling by 48.4 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 29.6 percent to $421.2 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 317,883 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 30.08 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 210,669 mt in the given period.
