In February this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 23.9 percent year on year to 114,399 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $64 million, up 0.9 percent year on year.
In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 265,714 mt, falling by 35.6 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 14.4 percent to $144.3 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 113,279 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 20.49 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 88,395 mt in the given period.
