Turkey’s billet imports down 34.4 percent in January-April

In April this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 43.4 percent month on month to 87,761 mt, down by 58 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $52.41 million, down 40 percent month on month and down 38.7 percent year on year.

In the January-April period of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 508,553 mt, falling by 34.4 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 11 percent to $283.97 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 189,871 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 32.40 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 176,057 mt in the given period.
