Turkey’s automotive sales up 20.2 percent in January

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD), in January this year the domestic passenger car and light vehicle market grew by 20.2 percent compared to the same month last year, with sales totaling 35,523 units.

In January, passenger car sales in Turkey totaled 25,835 units, rising by 22.6 percent compared to the first month of last year, while sales of light commercial vehicles increased by 14.4 percent to 9,688 units, on year-on-year basis. The association noted that the increase in vehicle sales in January was mainly due to low interest rates.

The ODD has forecast that total sales in the Turkish automotive sector in 2013 will amount to 790,000-840,000 units.
