Turkey’s Asil Celik to expand product range and output

Osman Kılavuz, CEO of Turkish specialty steel producer Asil Celik San. ve Tic. A.S.’s (Asil Celik), has said that the company is about to complete its new wire rod project, which will add new product groups to their product portfolio. Asil Celik plans to double its production capacity with the new wire rod line as well as with a new rolling mill and a melt shop which are part of company’s investment projects. Under the terms of these investments planned to be completed in two or three years, Asil Çelik will also carry on modernization work at its current mills. In the new wire rod mill of the company, hot performance tests have already been completed and quality tests are about to be completed. Once the new wire rod line is commissioned, Asil Celik’s product range will include 6-18 mm thin and 19-60 mm thick rod, while the company’s production capacity will reach the one million mt after the investments planned for the near future. Asil Celik produces specialty steel for use in several sectors as automotive, machine manufacture, defence, mining, energy, shipbuilding and aerospace. Besides its new wire rod production, the company produces bloom and bilet, ingot and square and round steel plates. Asil Celik’s annual crude steel capacity is currently 485,000 mt, while its finished steel product capacity is 410,000 mt per year.
